POPULOUS ANNOUNCES CREATION OF MASTERPLANNING TEAM

Date: February 1, 2010

Populous has appointed Ashley Munday as Principal to the group's newly formed Masterplanning team. The new global team will build on the company's already strong position in masterplanning and urban design for sports and entertainment venues, including previous projects such as the London 2012 Olympic Park Master Plan, Sochi 2014 Olympic Park Master Plan and Silverstone Master Plan. Its focus will be on assisting clients with the integration of new facilities into urban neighbourhoods and emerging communities.

Ashley, based in London, joins Populous from his previous position leading the masterplanning and urban architecture group at Allies and Morrison. He spent 8 years there undertaking significant masterplanning and regeneration projects including the Brent Cross Cricklewood Masterplan, as well as international urban projects such as the new Heart of Doha in Qatar and a strategic plan for the City of Perm in Russia.

Ashley is trained as an architect with a strong interest in the development and evolution of cities, as well as the fundamental role and contribution of architecture to the urban fabric. A number of his other previous projects included leading the successful competition for Elizabeth House whilst at Allies and Morrison and the initial design for Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane Australia during his previous tenure at HOK Sport (before the company rebranded as Populous in 2009).

Ashley Munday, Principal at Populous, said:
"I am excited about returning to Populous in my newly created role. As part of the new Masterplanning team I aim to bring my urbanism and architectural experience to Populous’ work on a wide, strategic level, as well as to the architectural projects undertaken by the practice. "The Company has a fantastic reputation for producing many wonderful public buildings in the sports and entertainment field. It will be exciting to work with our clients in integrating these venues into the urban fabric, as well as providing a catalyst for regeneration and stimulation in towns and cities around the world."

Rod Sheard, Senior Principal at Populous, said:
"Over the last few years Populous' design projects have expanded to include planning for the areas surrounding new venues and the infrastructure of the regions in which they are built. As a result we have created our new Masterplanning team to strengthen our existing ability to assist clients in this area.

"Adding an individual of Ashley's calibre is of great benefit to both our clients and project teams. With the addition of his extensive experience in masterplanning and urban design we will be able to continue helping our clients plan for and execute the integration of sporting and entertainment venues in their communities."
